IS THIS TRIP RIGHT FOR ME?

The Boots & Books trip is a great fit for travelers who:

  • love reading and want to connect to the story through real-life experiences

  • enjoy the connection of a reading retreat, but want more of a travel experience

  • have always dreamed about living out a cowboy romance

  • want to connect with nature and visit the beautiful national parks of Wyoming

  • enjoy a meaningful travel experience with like-minded women

You don't need to be an experienced traveler or someone who has been on group trips before!

This trip may NOT be right for you if you:

  • want a high-end luxery experience or night-life focused trip

  • require a single-room to yourself (we'll be sharing cabins!)

  • prefer reading retreats with extended downtime

  • don't like "nature experiences"

  • prefer to plan every part of a trip independently

  • are looking for the cheapest possible way to experience Wyoming

This trip is more than just a reading retreat — we'll be experiencing ranch life together while enjoying the best of Jackson Hole together!

YOUR HOSTS

Elizabeth Byrnes (front right) and Maddie Luchsinger (back left) are your Boots & Books co-hosts! As the founders of Leaf & Wander, Elizabeth and Maddie have dreamed of leading group travel for women who crave new travel experiences and want to experience the stories they read.

As active travlers themselves, they met while traveling in 2021 and quickly bonded over their love of stories. To kick off Leaf & Wander's first group trip, they've put together Boots & Books, which is the perfect group travel experience for anyone who loves a good cowboy romance. Inspired by stories like Lyla Sage's Rebel Blue Ranch series and Jessica Peterson's Lucky River Ranch series, they can't wait to bring readers together through horseback riding, the rodeo, and the scenic hills of Wyoming.

YOUR TRAVEL PLANNER

Leah Daniels is the founder of LEDA Destinations. As a frequent traveler, dreamer, and detail-loving travel planner who has always found her happy place in travel, whether it's hiking with her husband and sons or sipping martinis by the beach.

Leah loves helping groups design custom journeys that are seamless, meaningful, and full of magic. She walks with her cleints from big-picture dreaming to the tiniest logistics, including passports and villas to excursions and special requests. Nothing brings her more joy than crafting a travel experience that’s both unforgettable and stress-free.

WHY GO WITH LEAF & WANDER

Planning a trip to Jackson Hole isn’t easy! Between finding lodging in a town that books up fast, figuring out how to get around, deciding which sights are worth your time, and trying to squeeze it all into one trip, there’s a lot to coordinate. By choosing to book with us, we handle all of these challenges, plus eliminate the question of who to go with. Our trip is for women who are looking to connect with other women who love reading and travel, so you already have something in common with your travel group!

If you travel with us, you get:

  • An itinerary built with a professional travel advisor

  • Lodging, transportation, and daily plans already taken care of

  • Support before you go (packing, flights, what to expect, and more)

  • A small group of eight like-minded readers who genuinely want to be there

  • Time for book talk, quiet reading, and exploring at your own pace

  • Hosts who know travel and books: Maddie, travel writer behind the blog Luxx Adventures, and Elizabeth, a writer finishing her first novel

  • A chance to meet your fellow travelers in our online community before the trip starts

  • Less stress, fewer decisions, and more time to enjoy the mountains, the town, and a good book

For a lot of people, the hardest part of a trip like this is planning it alone or not knowing who to go with. We kept the group small and took care of the logistics so you can simply show up, settle in, and focus on the experience.

YOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival Day

Arrive in Jackson Hole, WY this afternoon and let us handle transportation to the ranch. Take some time to settle in before joining the group at dinner. Afterwards, settle in for a slumber-party style welcome night, featuring gift bags and games!

Day 2: Wyoming Wildlife

You'll have to wake up early today, but it's worth it for a group wildlife tour through Wyoming's national parks. Enjoy a group lunch before returning to the ranch for some downtime before dinner.

Day 3: Shop 'Till You Drop

Make up for lost sleep yesterday morning with a slow morning, followed by a trip into town. We'll enjoy the local shops together — and if you're interested, add on a custom cowboy hat! We'll finish up with a trip to the local bookstore and dinner at Snake River Brewing before heading back to the ranch.

Note: Dinner at Snake River Brewing is the only meal not included in the cost of the trip.

Day 4: Cowboy Dreams

Saddle up! We'll start today with a group horseback ride before getting ready for a trip to the Jackson Hole Rodeo.

Day 5: Relax and Dance Your Heart Out

Another early morning, but don't worry — you won't regret getting out of your warm bed, because we're heading to the hot springs (weather allowing). Enjoy a slow afternoon before sliding on your dancing shoes! We're grabbing dinner at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar before line dancing.

Day 6: Get some R&R

If you're tired, today is your day to relax. We'll start with one last group horseback ride and wrap up the trip with a group craft night.

Day 7: Departures

It's time to say goodbye, but hopefully not for long! Transport to the airport will be covered, so feel free to relax a little bit longer before we head out.

CANCELLATION POLICY

We know plans change. This policy explains what happens if you need to cancel, and what happens in the rare case that we do. Because we pay lodging and vendor deposits well before the trip, refunds depend on when you cancel.

Deposits
Your $1,661.25 deposit holds your spot and goes toward lodging and vendor deposits right away. It is nonrefundable unless you cancel within 14 days of booking and before April 1, 2027.

If you cancel
All cancellations must be sent in writing to info@leafandwander.com. Your cancellation date is the day we receive your email.

  • Before April 1, 2027: You lose your deposit. Any payments beyond the deposit are refunded.

  • April 1 to April 29, 2027: [50%] of the total trip price is refunded.

  • April 30, 2027, or later: No refund.

No refunds are given for missed activities, no-shows, or leaving the trip early.

Transferring your spot
If you can’t make it, you may transfer your spot to someone else up to 30 days before departure. The new traveler must agree to our Terms and Conditions, and we must approve the transfer. A transfer fee may apply.

If we cancel
If we cancel the trip for any reason within our control, including not reaching a minimum of 6 travelers by April 1, 2027, you’ll receive a full refund of everything you’ve paid us. We aren’t responsible for costs you’ve paid to others, such as airfare, travel to and from Jackson Hole, or travel insurance.

Things outside our control
If the trip has to be canceled or changed because of events beyond our control, such as severe weather, natural disasters, public health emergencies, or government restrictions, we’ll work with our vendors to recover as much as we can. Ideally, we'll aim to reschedule, but if you can't make the new dates, refunds or credits toward a future trip will depend on what our vendors return to us.

Itinerary changes
We may need to adjust activities, timing, or accommodations for safety, weather, or availability. When that happens, we’ll replace them with something comparable whenever possible. Changes like these don’t qualify for a refund.

Travel insurance
We require you to purchase travel insurance that covers trip cancellation, interruption, and medical emergencies. It’s the best way to protect your investment if something unexpected comes up.

Refund timing
Approved refunds are issued to your original payment method within 30 days. This policy is governed by the laws of the state of Connecticut.
